"The Collector's Eye" at Lumiere Gallery
The Collector’s Eye
“The Collector’s Eye” was conceived as the foundation for a dialogue on “The Art of Collecting Art”. . .
a survey of 20th Century photography, sculpture and books featuring important works . . .
highlighting the artists behind the art.
Of the 100 works from 50 Master Photographers and Sculptors . . .
many were selected because they are iconic . . . others for compatibility with themes.
The show follows with a chronological focus with, Alfred Steiglitz, Paul Strand, Imogen Cunningham,
Edward Weston, Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange . . . each pioneers in their own right-who influenced each other.
These artists lay the foundation for the rest of the exhibition with the themes:
The Early Years, One World . . . One People-American, European and Asian perspectives, Portraiture,
Abstraction, Architecture, and Photobook covers . . . closing with Photography as Propaganda.
